The problem for the radically religious right is that this MIRACLE depends on our understanding of evolution. Do they want to trust in the Deity instead of in science?

The problem for luddite left may be just as real. The implications of this event are that a modern health care system is going to require giving up certain civil rights. If the epidemic really gets going, we will need to give up our right to free trial or to choose whether or not to accept vaccination. Even more important, in the long run, I expect President Obama to announce that he and Michelle are going to have their genomes done and made public.
