TheHill.com - McAuliffe says Penn should zip it

One of the greatest mysteries in the clinton campaign is Marl Penn. Originally touted as a mastermind for the campaign, his public utterneces have ranges from arrogant to insufferable. Penn, in one meeting, tried to equate the qustions Obama has raised abut Hillary's credibility with Republicans with the assorted Clinton mud slinging efforts. The other talking heads, including Axelrod form Obama and Tripi from Edwards, were clearly angry and they ganged up on this tweet along with the commentators.

In several susch appearances, Penn has come across as a fool. It is hard to believe he can be such a fool and still have reached his level of prominance. His company has billed the campaign for millions fo dollars! Yet I wonder. Hillary and Bill also still supprt Ira Magaziner, another tweet who led HRC's first effort at healthcare.

What worries me is that for all her touted experience, I am not impressed with the HRC campaign or with most of her top advisers.

TheHill.com - McAuliffe says Penn should zip it: "“People ought to quit talking to the press and focus on helping Hillary win,” McAuliffe said on MSNBC in response to a question about Penn’s remarks.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Penn said in an e-mail that he had “no direct authority in the campaign,” and called himself an “outside message adviser with no campaign staff reporting to me.”

Penn said others in the campaign had the say on budget issues and resource allocation, as well as the political and organizational sides. Some see his statement as his effort to distance himself from a campaign that is on the ropes, even though Penn is seen as one of Clinton’s main strategists.

McAuliffe, who was his usual optimistic self Tuesday and predicted wins in Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island, said the Penn issue would be addressed following Tuesday’s key primaries.

“When we get through with Texas and Ohio, I’ll go back and I’ll talk to Maggie Williams, our campaign manager, about that,” McAuliffe said."
