The truly sad thing about this is the media's silence. Republican racism is not new. It has infected the party since Lee Atwater/Reagan and has been nurtured by extending the bigotry to gays. Typically we read a ham handed effort at balance where Obama's concerns about McCains stability of judgement or Palin's qualifications to govern at all are balanced against Republican intimations that Obama is a racist radical because he looks un white and has actually talked with people who are radical.
Now we are faced with what I have called a "residual" partry, a Republican Pary whose MAJORITY represent the radical religious right.
After Nov 4, there will be a fight to control the residiue and that fight now appears won by Dobson, Reed and Gingrich. Can US Democracy survive when one of the two parties imbedded in our unwritten constition is a radical party, in effect, dedicated to the overthrow of the system created by Jefferson,Adams, Madison and Hamilton?
