Pessimism

There is a Republican over at HorsesAss who frightens me.

Klake

Folks the easy way to end the war is to win it not become a defeatist like the far left. Oh I forgot you all are losers and don’t know how to win. Roger are you still selling bumper sticker on Freeing Tibet? .... Roger is the Minister for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda for the Socialist Democrats Party today just like Paul Joseph Goebbels was in Hitler Germany. His Nazi friends taught him the trade when he visited them in jail.

Roger is "Roger Rabbit,: another poster, a thoughtful fellow blogger who is an attorney. Imagine anyone confusing Willy Brandt's Social Democrats with Hitler's National Socialists. Twisti ng Roger into Goebbels take a psychotic. Is Klake a paranid? Does he hear voices or is she 13 and living outr some Oedipal fantasy? How many Kool Aid drinkers are there who still feel like Klake?

The sadness of the web is we can not know if this is some misguided twelve year old or one of Seattle's megabuck Daddy Warbucks imitators. To make it even wierder doesn't he know that Tibet is occupied by the Commies? Or is it OK because the Chinese are now on "our" side? Maybe it would help him to know that 95% of the "publicly owned" companies in the new China are majority owned the govmint or the "people's Army?"

The worst of this is the Newspeak, Orwell would have been smug, for Klake defeat is whatever fantasy GWB has. Same folks think Reagan won the cold war and tax cuts pay for themselves in increased revenue and evolution is for monkeys.

I used to be smug about the followers of LePen in France. It can't happen here

Speakoing in Newspeak, another Publican, Mr. Guiliani, running for President:*

Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do.

I don't think Mr. Guiliani and Mr. Jefferson would get along too well. The former Mayer should be careful. I hear that the ghost of the red haired Virginian stalks the White House.

OTOH, maybe the Mayor would feel more comfortable in Malaysia where freedom is so good that Muslims can not violate Sharia even when they want to marry non Muslims. Seems very much like the Republican ideas for the role of Christianity here. Well, maybe I am being extreme, I am sure that fundies her would NEVER want to prevent anyone form marrying whom they love.

Karl Rove, resign? Really? Nahhh!

And then there is the singing politician.

SM Schwartz what makes you think I'm a Republican? No I'm not 12 but 60 years old and the only voice I'm hearing is what you write. You miss the real connection about Roger and Joseph but that’s how you see it from your vantage point. You bring up many interesting points, but stay away from stereotyping I find it a slippery slope. Remember Melos they went down that very road that the Democrats are headed. Oh! By the way I’m a Democrat not a Socialist Democrat and I have seen more of this world than most folks. You really meet nice people even in the battle field. God Bless. Oh if offend you for not being Political Correct SORRY.

No yu do not offend me, though you do seem a lot younger than my my own age.

I have no idea waht a "Socialist Democrat" is. Do you mean Social Democrat?

Who is Melos?

As for Roger and Goebells .. have you read an Goebells?

Seattle Jew,new reading material now enjoy and expand your horizon.

"In 416 B.C., the Athenian-led Delian League, then the dominant naval power of the Hellenic World, was locked in a death struggle with its rival, Sparta, and its Peloponnesian allies. In the wake of the battle of Mantinea, and on the eve of the ill-fated naval expedition to Syracuse, the small island of Melos in the northern Cretan Sea had become an object of strategic concern to Athens which sought to force Melos to join the Delian League and pay tribute. The Melians refused and claimed the moral right of a state to remain neutral. “Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power,” answered the Athenians; “The strong do what they wish and the weak suffer what they must.” One may admire Melian principles and courage, if not strategic acumen. Their heroic stubbornness cost the Melians their existence. The Athenians slaughtered all adult males and sold the women and children into slavery.

Socialist Democrat which is a group of people who are made up of Communist and European Socialist which are taking over the Democrat Party. You can include the Canadians who already have a group running their country today.

“Have you read a Goebbels?”
The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich (Deutsches Reich) read the book in Germany in English and German. Joseph Goebbels was the one who put and keep Adolf Hitler in power.” Goebbels earned a Ph.D. from Heidelberg University in 1921, on the basis of a doctoral thesis on 18th century romantic drama; he then went on to work as a journalist and later a bank clerk and caller on the stock exchange. In October 1926, Hitler rewarded Goebbels for his new loyalty by making him the party "Gauleiter" for the Berlin section of the National Socialists. Goebbels was then able to use the new position to indulge his literary aspirations in the German capital, which he perceived to be a stronghold of the socialists and communists. Here, Goebbels discovered his genius as a propagandist, writing such tracts as 1926's The Second Revolution and Lenin or Hitler.” Now your friend Roger has the same skill sets and very good at expressing them like Goebbels. That is why I reference him to Joseph; they can both convince you a lie is a truth or embellish the truth to make their point.

Seattle Jew the Free Tibet has been a bust in freeing that region by selling bumper stickers all over the world. Today we as a Nation buy Chinese’s product in the billions of dollars which defeats any chance of them succeeding at freeing Tibet. There are other options to fix the problem but this nation or others are not willing to pay that price. End of subject they are under the rule of China. The same strategy will not work in other parts of the world unless everybody was willing to share the cost, and burden that would be required to succeed. Selling something more than bumper stickers would be required. Roger like bumper stickers it requires no real cost to him or his friends.
“The International Tibet Independence Movement (ITIM) is a movement to establish historical Tibet, comprising the three traditional provinces of Amdo, Kham, and Ü-Tsang as an independent kingdom. Support for the movement in the current Tibet Autonomous Region is illegal within the People's Republic of China and the movement is largely led by Tibetans in exile with the support of some individuals and organizations outside of Tibet. Indeed, celebrities and many non-Tibetan Buddhists have lent their support or solidarity - this has led to the 'Free Tibet' movement harnessing much support since its creation. The level of support for the movement within the Tibet Autonomous Region and other Tibetan areas of the PRC is difficult to assess.”

First of all, the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich was written in English by William Shirer. Interesting that you read it in translation.

As for Goebells I meant by him, not about him. Esp. his diary.

I fail to see nay resemblance between Goebells and Roger. Roger posts in two styles .. sometimes he is serious and factual and at other times he is sarcastic. Neither of these describe Herr Dr/ Goebells.

If anything YOUR equation of the Social Dems with the Communists is Goebellesque. The philosophy of socialism, as put forward bya ll the soci;l democrats, is of combining democracy in the political sphere with democracy in the economic sphere. In contrast the "communists" .. at least since Lenin and his Bolsheviks, oppose what we call democracy in either sphere. Social dems and communists have been bitter, armed enemies of each other.
You seem to confuse the two and that does you little credit. Personally6 i would go one step further .. the concept of "property" that underlies American Conservatism has been a fiction since Alexander Hamilton invented the modern centralized economy. We live in an era where "money" is a government administered accounting device. It exists because the Federal Reserve decide to create new money. Sin a very real sense the US government already controls all property.
You want to live in an Ayn Rand world? They have existed, the illegal economies of Brazil and Argentina. The drug lords live in a propertied world too. For the most part our managed economy is a better place to live, no?

The system we have in place today is probability the best for all us to live by with to prevent large conflicts. China is examples of that after Nixon open the doors to that part of the world. Today nobody owns anything when a government can tax or take it away from you without just cause.

" Social dems and communists have been bitter, armed enemies of each other." They seem to be getting along quite well today in Europe. This country is moving military bases out of Germany to Poland and they work well in NATO today.
