Frankly I think the VEEP should be impeached BUT, where in hell is this idiot's priorities? If he wants to act like a Congressman Mr. McD should quit serving as one and get a job! Maybe he can get Fred Thompson's job?
Here we have a guy near the bottom of Congressional clout, from a District with serious Federal needs, ina Democratic Congress and he is showboating. I recommend Josh Feit's editorial on the subject.
Where is Jimmy in Immigration? NIH? Federal funds for mass transit?

My Congressman reminds me of the Congressman from my wife's home in Appalachia. Daniel J. Flood ran ads showing himself in a cape, velvet suits, limo .... living the high life while representing out-of-work coal miners. Daniel J Flood, devoted himself to the corrupt panama canal, and Papa Doc Duvalier. His biggest contribution to the District came after a flood. Representative Flood got the Defence Dept. to send helicopters and later got a lot of federal reconstruction aid, but the best part? Two days after the storm, Flood announced: The river rose no further. One of the denizenbs of the"I have ordered the Army Corps of Engineers not to permit the Susquehanna to rise another inch." One of Flood's constituents described Daniel J "the next closest thing to God." ∙
I knew Mr. Flood and Jimmy is no Daniel J.
Of course Daniel J Flood was corrupt, I don't think Jimmy is. But they both showboat. Jimmy's legal problems are admirable .. he was premature ins standing up to the Bush crime gang, but that does not mean our District can not do better. Maybe if Darcy Burner is going to replace Reichert, the Republican Federal Attorney, John McKay*, should run for Congress from Capital Hill?
* Mr. McKay has become a hero for standing up to the Bush effort to politicize the Federal Prosecutor offices.

Sooo I guess you'd rather McDermott nicely rearrange the deck chairs of transportation funding than worry about the iceberg of our hijacked democracy.
Or you'd rather he get involved in the made-for-right-wing-radio reactionary xenophobic anti-immigration hysteria. Talk about a show boat issue.
But hey, as long as he gets us our share of the sloppy pork, I guess that's what matters.
There are are possibilities le3ss extreme than McD confronting the Publican showboaters. You are absolutely right, I would not want him setting up some wail abot the stupid ideas for a wall or gay bashing. That would be more of the same.
What I do want to see is some substantive action on getting things done, something that takes advantage of his secure seat and allows him to move aggressively on important issues. HIS choices not mine, as long as it is intnbeded to do SOMETHING.
As for pok, I did not mention pork. I did mention issues that are importnat in THIS District that also affect our nation. Here is my list:
1. School Reform .. Is there a more important American issue?
2. Immigration ... not the Effin wall but the real issues ... opening up our borders to ambitious skilled people, fiunding a way to defuse the 12 million illegal bomb, havoing a rationa poilicy for farmworkers ..
3, NIH The NIH is in diore straights. This is a bhig deal in Seattle and this District BUT it portends very bad things for the future of the US economy.
4. Energy policy. The Nrthwest was built n cheap hydro, There are many issues with the future of hydr.
5. Mass transit. Build em an d they will come. Urban sprawl is killing Seattle and the country.
6. Taxes. Howsa about the very wealthy paying their fair share?
7. World Education. Seven years after 9/11 we STILL are not educating 'Merican kids in Arabc or Chinese. Why?
I could give a chicken's tooth about which of thes eissues Jimbo chooses .. or anything else of substance. And I ageee comparing Jumbo to Daniel J is unfair to an honset man ... and I mean Jimbo. But doesn't Jim's mustache look BETTER than Daniel J's?
