It turns out that he might have produced the stem cells from just human cells which is even more useful. Researchers at Harvard Stem Cell Institute who looked closely at Hwang's data found the stem cells may be the first to have been produced by parthenogenesis or 'virgin birth' method which no one has ever been able to do before. 'Unfortunately at the time they published their work they did not know what they had done... they had produced the world's first patient-specific embryonic stem cell, and that is very valuable,' said the doctor who led the analysis.
