John Ridley: Che it Ain't So - Politics on The Huffington Post

John Ridley: Che it Ain't So - Politics on The Huffington Post: "In death Guevara has certainly managed to whitewash his image. A cleansing aided by such personality cultisms as the film The Motorcycle Diaries, which portrays Guevara as a young, wide-eyed do-gooder who travels South America looking to right social wrongs. Romanticized and corporate pimped, for most who even know who Guevara was they have no idea what he stood for. They merely accept that he was the South American Martin Luther King. He was not."

This would be your standard right-wing anti-Che screed with the rather bizzare straw man addition that Che is no MLK. Really? An atheist revolutionary is not akin to a Baptist preacher and advocate of nonviolence? Who knew?

Two questions arise:1) What is Ridley's schtick anyhow, NPRs token conservative Black?; 2) Why is it posted on this blog, did Che have the temerity say something critical of Israel at some point?

Why shouldn't it be on this blog? For better or worse I try to post real ideas. The questions of who Che .. or Lincoln ,, or Lenin or Gandhi is are all worthwhille don't yuu think?

As for Israel, I have no diea what Che had to say. In general folks on the left have been antiIsrael and often worse. Remember Ezra Pound? Ever read Jefferson or Luther or Bishop Tutu?
