Holy Ghost congress: 23 women give birth at camp

Innocent Okonkwo

HARVEST of miracles continued Thursday night at the Holy Ghost congress of Redeemed Christian Church of God on Lagos/Ibadan Expressway as no fewer than 23 women gave birth to babies at the camp.

The babies, seven boys and 16 girls were called miracle babies by the general overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

There were other miracles as the recipients testified, among them, Mrs. Felicia Ogedengbe who was said to have been childless after 11 years of marriage but is now a proud mother of triplets, a boy and two girls as a result of prayer she made at the last edition of the congress.

Also one Mrs. Christian was healed of cervice cancer which she had suffered for five years; her healing was confirmed by a doctor.

It was a prayer night same Thursday, as men and women of God from different church denominations took turns to pray for diverse needs of the people. Rev. Dr. Wilson Badejo, General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel church set the ball rolling with prayer for families. Prophet Kayode Abiara took care of intercession for the church which he said comprises every believer in Jesus Christ. Rev. Mrs. Mercy Ezekiel of the Christian Pentecostal Mission ((CPM) on the other hand prayed for the youths.

However, the Nigerian police force was the group that received the highest dose of prayers and they will now move to the next level of integrity if the prayer of Bishop Francis Wale Oke of the Sword of the Spirit Ministry, Ibadan was anything to go by.

Praying for members of the police, army and judiciary, Bishop Oke said that the police must be delivered from the spirit of corruption which had over the years held them bond. "For the police to move to next level, the spirit of corruption must be cast away from the force", he said.

Consequently, he led the congregation into marathon prayer session for the police force and the army. The cleric also prayed God to uproot all corrupt judges from the land for righteousness to flourish.

Preaching on the theme "wrestling in prayer", Bishop Mike Okonkwo, presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), said that Jabez was not born with a silver spoon but that he prayed himself to success. "He started from minus zero, without hope, as his name suggests hopelessness, sorrow and cast away but he prayed, there is tendency to throw up your hands and said there is no hope, no future, but Bible says let us go to the throne of Grace we can approach God because He is able to do all things", he said, quoting First Chronicles 4:9-10.

Pastor Adeboye, who mounted the pulpit after midnight with the message "Let the five fall" said if Christians pray, yokes will be destroyed. "When yoke is broken, the believers’ hand will be free which means whatever that individual touches will prosper," the general overseer said.

According to Pastor Adeboye, it was only when the fire fell that Samson saw the jaw bone of an ass which he used to destroy the enemies.

"When the fire fell on Samson, his yoke was destroyed, his eye was opened, he saw a jaw bone of an ass, he grabbed it. What Samson used was a jaw bone of an ass, not the leg bone or the hand bone, your miracle is in your mouth", Pastor Adeboye said."
